About DAS

  • The Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) works closely with our government and has over 250 professional staff who provide an array of services for students with dyslexia not only in Singapore but in the region.
  • DAS Specialist Psychologists conduct assessments and diagnose for learning differences in individuals aged from 6 years old to adult.
  • DAS Educational Therapists and Speech-Language Therapists provide support for over 3,500 preschool, primary and secondary school students in 12 Learning Centres all over Singapore.
  • The DAS Academy delivers professional training in the form of Workshops, Certificate courses, Specialist Diploma’s, and a Masters in Special Educational Needs which is accredited by a recognised university from the UK.
  • DAS International provides one-to-one specialist teaching to individuals with learning differences both in Singapore and regionally.
  • Increasingly, the DAS will provide support for individuals with dyslexia who also have co-occurring Specific Learning Differences such as ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Aspergers Syndrome.
Potential for organisational growth

While DAS provides support for over 3,500 students, it is estimated that there are 23,000 students from preschool to secondary school with dyslexia severe enough to warrant intervention. DAS is therefore at the tip of the iceberg in terms of our potential client base. Additionally, there is tremendous potential for growth in the region as well as support for clients who have associated specific learning differences.

Potential for individual growth

DAS has grown in size by five times in the last seven years. In a rapidly growing organisation, opportunities abound for staff who are willing to take on challenges and responsibilities.

Emphasis on professional development

While a not-for-profit organisation, DAS is first and foremost a professional organisation delivering professional services to our clients. Our emphasis is therefore on the continued professional development of ALL staff. Selected staff will also have opportunities for higher education scholarships as well as to pioneer research. A comprehensive training pathway is offered to our professional staff and further qualifications are available for those staff who wish to continue to develop in the field of special needs.
Staff who are on sessional employment will receive the same training as full-time staff.

Commitment to fair employment practices

In 2013, DAS signed the Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) pledge, signifying our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace.

Commitment to an inclusive learning environment

DAS is dedicated to creating an inclusive learning environment for colleagues through staff education and training. Using the Universal Design for Learning principles, our staff are taught to appreciate individual differences and identify barriers that might impede their colleagues’ learning and performance.

Commitment to a safe and healthy workplace
