ย Itโs hard to believe it has only been six months since I stepped into my role as Head of DAS International – somehow it feels both longer and shorter at the same time! The transition from my previous role has been both challenging and transformative, and here are the important lessons that I have learnt so far:
Dyslexia and other learning differences show up differently in each child, which makes personalised support so important.
๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐น๐, because every learner, parent and teacher has a story. Taking time to understand different perspectives is key to providing meaningful support.
Open communication and trust between home and school ensure true progress for the child as we work in tandem towards shared goals.
๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ผ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐, just as our students need encouragement and resources to thrive. Our teachers also need safe spaces, affirmation and professional growth opportunities to bring best practices into the classroom. Supporting our teachers = supporting our students!
I am grateful for the dedicated team of Specialist Teachers / Educational Therapists. Our work is not only about lesson plans or exams, it is about supporting people, giving hope and building confidence – one starfish at a time
September has always been my favourite month, and it is also a month of celebration and appreciation for teachers! ๐๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฌ ๐ง๐๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฆ’ ๐๐๐ฌ to all my Specialist Teachers . May every day feel like Teachers’ Day as we celebrate the small wins that our students make!
